A guide to linen
-
Linen is a delicate fabric that can be easily damaged by harsh detergents and high temperatures. When washing your linen garments hand or machine wash in lukewarm or low temperature water using mild detergents. Avoid using bleach or fabric softener, as they can damage the fibers.
-
Linen should never be put in the dryer, as the high heat can shrink and damage the fabric. Instead, Lay the piece flat and hang dry it to maintain shape and avoid creases. Tumble drying is not advisable.
-
Iron while damp to avoid burning the fabric. One can also layer a damp light-colored cotton shirt on top of the piece before ironing it.
-
To prevent wrinkles and damage, store your linen garments in a cool, dry place. You can fold them or hang them on padded hangers to help maintain their shape.
